Rose Ansari

Rose Ansari (she/her) is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist and creative technologist. She attended Alzahra University of Tehran for her Bachelor of Fine Arts. Currently, she is a Master of Fine Arts student in Art & Technology / Sound Practices at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA.

Rose's current research-based art exploration delves into Cyborg and post-human theories, distortion, and telecommunication through sensory experience in laboratory processes. Fueled by a fascination with unreal fantasy and immersive environments, she is inspired by sci-fi and futuristic concepts, biology, and machines. She integrates technology and cognitive sciences with poetry to unravel the complexities of the human unconscious and emotions. Her projects have been shown nationally and internationally.

Research

My main research explores the intersections of gender, identity, media representation, and feminist theory through the lens of post-humanism. I am particularly interested in how contemporary artists like Barbara Kruger and theorists like Donna Haraway deconstruct traditional notions of gender and identity, critiquing the ways they are constructed and commodified in visual culture. By analyzing influential works such as "Your Body is a Battleground" and "A Cyborg Manifesto," I aim to understand the subversive potential of art and theory in challenging oppressive power structures and envisioning new, liberating forms of existence beyond binary gender norms and biological essentialism. Additionally, I will investigate the ethical implications of these post-human perspectives, particularly in relation to the integration of technology and the human body, as well as the commodification of identity in a media-saturated world. Ultimately, my research seeks to contribute to ongoing discussions on post-humanism, feminism, and the role of art and theory in promoting social and cultural transformation.
